Volkswagen

I got my first car, a Volkswagen, when I was twenty years old. The car itself was eleven.

After two years I got this red one, I drove it for ten years, I'm still missing it!

This one was spotted by my aunt and uncle in Germany.

A few weeks ago Marieken and I visited The Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven.

One of the artworks was this Volkswagen Beetle, created by Surasi Kusolwong

Rijksmuseum

A few weeks ago I visited  The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam with my daughter 

It was almost inpossible to get near the famous painting of Rembrandt The Nightwatch.

Earlier today president Obama visited the Museum and got a private tour.

Museum Speelklok

Last sunday me and my daughter visited a beautiful museum in Utrecht, called Museum Speelklok.

Museum Speelklok collects, preserves and restores a large collection of self-playing mechanical instruments from all over the world. One of it's major roles lies in spreading it's knowledge of the collection to a wider audience.

The Museum is located in a former church, on the picture is the first floor.

Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972)

On Friday I like to blog about an artist I admire.

This week the Dutch graphic designer M.C. Escher.

He is famous for his mathematically inspired woodcuts, linographs and mezzotints.

In the Hague, in a former Palace of Queen Emma, there is an permanent exhibition of his work.
It's named the Escher museum, more information can be found here. The museum features a permanent display of a large number of his works
