Old pictures

Sunday was a grey day, a good day to look in the box with old pictures.
My parents married in september 1947, two years after WW II.
Moms dress was made from an old parachute.

In city hall to sign the official papers.

The houses in the back were a gift from the Swedish government
because there were many houses destroyed in the war.

The river De Waal

Sunday, after a visit at a postcard fair, we drove home.
Instead of taking the highway we drove among the river.

Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972)

On Friday I like to blog about an artist I admire.

This week the Dutch graphic designer M.C. Escher.
He is famous for his mathematically inspired woodcuts, linographs and mezzotints.

In the Hague, in a former Palace of Queen Emma, there is an permanent exhibition of his work.
It's named the Escher museum, more information can be found here
The museum features a permanent display of a large number of his works

In his work is so much to discover.
Day and night

He travelled a lot as you can see in his work.

A walk in the forrest

This weekend I had this lovely dog as a guest.

She was the reason for a walk in the forrest.

 We walked about 3 hours.

It's autumn but the trees are still full of green leaves

We came across these sheep on an open spot in the forrest

Purple in all her beauty

Surprise

To my surprise I found in my Etsy Stats that I got views through the website of Dutch magazine
'101 Woonideeën'. It was a blog about summer and they showed my vintage cardbooklet from Suisse.

René Magritte

One of my favorite artist is the Belgian painter René Margritte. (1898-1967)

The school teacher (1954)
Le blanc-seing (1965)

There is always something strange in his paintings
La grande  guerre (1964)

Golconde (1953)

Painting on a house, the picture was taken  in Berlin in 2012
The images are scans taken form the book Margritte by Jacques Meuris
except for the last one, that one was taken by me.
